Quince Blossom by Torchlight

Due to the unseasonably mild (albeit constantly windy) winter we are having, the flowering quince has been blossoming a few months early.Photo of Quince blossom

  1. That flower is a beauty.

I’ve only seen a flowering quince a few times in the Royal Botanic Gardens. I think it’s grown more in the UK as an old fruiting crop. Probably bought out to Australia with some of the English early settlers in the 1800s, but not well known here for growing as a fruit crop. I’d had quince jelly though.
