The lawn is currently being prettified by this little blue flower, amongst other things. I tried to identify it and think it is germander speedwell, Veronica chamaedrys, although it might be slender speedwell.
Most of the information on the internet seems to be about how annoying a weed it is for those pursuing a perfectly green lawn. I did discover that it was considered to be a good luck charm for travellers to speed them well on their way, probably because it grew under hedgerows along roads. It was probably also used as a herbal remedy, the old fashioned equivalent of “get well soon”. Anyhoo, this lady’s blog about flower remedies has more information and pretty pictures here.
