Full Strawberry Moon

June 20th 2016 was the Summer Solstice, the longest day, and the start of astronomical (as opposed to meteorological) summer. Tonight was also the full moon.Β  This is the first time since 1967 that the full moon has coincided with the summer solstice. The next time will be 2062.Photo of full moon

The June full moon is known as the Full Strawberry Moon, this is because the strawberries are ripening. Indeed the wild strawberries are ripening.
