Spot the wren! These small brown birds are very flighty. They feed on insects and are constantly flitting about to catch them, making them very difficult for me to photograph.
They often hunt for spiders in crevices and go burrowing under shrubs for insects hence their Latin name, Troglodytes troglodytes, meaning cave dweller, which is a bit fanciful in my opinion. They are one of the UK’s smallest birds, but they have a hearty voice to them which you can hear here, along with further information.
